Works by Tom Nakashima
Fowler Gallery, Through September 25
Nakashima is a contemporary artist whose works address complex, interconnected relationships through images that are apparently representational at first glance, but become increasingly abstract and unknowable to the observant viewer.

Augusta State University Faculty Invitational Exhibit
Kistner Atrium & Rowe Promenade, Through September 25
Works by art department faculty members at Augusta State University, to be shown in conjunction with the Nakashima exhibit. Featuring paintings, photography, prints, sculpture and ceramics by Kristin Casaletto, Jackson Cheatham, Priscilla Hollingsworth, Alan C. MacTaggart, Philip Morsberger, Jennifer Onofrio, Raoul Pacheco, Brian Rust, and Janice Williams Whiting.

Arts League ‘Lunch with an Artist’

Features ‘The Art of Bookbinding’ by Linda Lindeborg. Registration starts at 11:30, with the luncheon and presentation at 12:00.

Arts League ‘Music in the Garden’

The Arts League invites you to attend a party in the garden, featuring live entertainment by ‘The Flipside.’

Tom Nakashima Artist’s Lecture & Reception
Tuesday, September 21, 6:00 p.m.
Meet the artist currently featured in our main Fowler Gallery, and learn about his artistic processes. Nakashima is the William S. Morris Eminent Scholar in Art at Augusta State University. He is a painter and printmaker who has exhibited internationally. Presented as part of the Gwinnett County Public Library’s new Fall into the Arts program, this lecture and reception is free and open to the public. Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day/Hudgens Family Day
Saturday, September 25, 10:00 – 5:00 p.m.
The Hudgens is participating in Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day. Museums across the country are opening their doors for free on this Saturday to participants. For more information, please visit the Smithsonian’s website.

 

That Saturday is also Family Day at The Hudgens, with a special make & take project for children from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 that ties in with our current exhibits.
