Renovation and Expansion Design Competition

The Hudgens Center for Art & Learning announces a regional design competition. The mission of this competition is to create an iconic landmark that energizes the Gwinnett arts community, strengthening the presence of The Hudgens Center for Art & Learning within the newly developed Infinite Energy Center Campus.

The conceptual design for the expanded Hudgens Center will consider the existing façade, the need to reconfigure and renovate the current structure of 34,000 square feet, the addition of additional 15,000 square feet of exhibition, instructional, event and administrative space and the surrounding growth which is taking place within the Infinite Energy Campus. The winning concept should strive to be a catalyst for the promotion of design excellence in Gwinnett County.

A jury consisting of architects, arts and civic leaders and Hudgens Center leadership will recognize the top three finalists and select one winner to receive a $5,000 prize.

The competition winner will be announced Friday, January 26, 2018. The winner will have the opportunity to continue their involvement in the project beyond the competition.
